Academics
At First Children Christian School, learning begins with curiosity and grows through faith, discipline, and discovery. We follow a British–Nigerian blended curriculum that builds strong academic foundations while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and character. Every lesson is designed to help children understand not only what they’re learning, but why it matters — connecting knowledge with purpose and Godliness.

Our teachers work closely with students at every stage, creating a safe, supportive environment where each child can learn at their own pace and shine in their own way.

Early Years Programme
(Daycare & Nursery)

Our Early Years Programme provides a warm and engaging start to your child’s educational journey. For our youngest learners, we focus on care, play, and exploration — helping children feel secure, valued, and ready to learn.
As children move into Nursery and Reception, learning becomes more intentional while staying joyful and hands-on. We build strong early foundations using the Nigerian curriculum, supported by UK literacy and numeracy methods such as Jolly Phonics, Oxford Reading Tree, and concrete maths activities. Children develop early reading and writing skills, number sense, fine motor coordination, and social confidence. Music, art, movement, and imaginative play enrich their days, encouraging creativity and curiosity from the very beginning.
Primary School

Our Primary School builds on this foundation with a balanced focus on academic excellence, character development, and real-world readiness. We follow the Nigerian NERDC curriculum in English, Mathematics, Basic Science & Technology, Social Studies, Civic Education, Religious Knowledge, Creative Arts, and Physical & Health Education.

Learning is active and engaging — combining structured lessons with discussion, problem-solving, reading groups, ICT exposure, and creative projects. We maintain small class sizes so teachers can give individualized attention and guide each child at the right pace.
Upper primary learners benefit from strengthened literacy and reasoning skills, guided writing practice, and preparation for national examinations. Across all levels, we aim to raise confident, thoughtful, and responsible young leaders grounded in integrity and lifelong learning.
Our Approach to Learning

We believe that true education transforms both mind and character. Our teaching philosophy is rooted in:
-
Faith: Beginning each day with prayer and reflection.
-
Excellence: Encouraging diligence and perseverance in all areas of study.
-
Creativity: Helping children think independently and solve problems with confidence.
-
Discipline: Building habits of respect, responsibility, and focus.
-
Care: Supporting every learner through patience, love, and guidance.

We use the Nigerian NERDC curriculum, strengthened with elements of the UK early years and primary framework. This allows us to deliver a programme that is structured, modern, and effective — while still meeting national standards.

We use internationally recognized tools such as Jolly Phonics, Oxford Reading Tree, and hands-on maths strategies to build confident readers, writers, and problem-solvers from the early years onward.
Assessment & Growth

Students are evaluated through continuous assessment rather than pressure-filled testing. Teachers monitor progress closely and provide regular feedback to parents. Report cards highlight both academic achievement and character development — reflecting our belief that who a child becomes is just as important as what they learn.
